Entry 1
Item 1: Poem
Perfect mom
Mom, you’re a wonderful mother,
So gentle, yet so strong,
The many ways you show you care
Always make me feel I belong.
You’re patient when I’m foolish;
You give guidance when I ask;
It seems you can do most anything;
You’re the master of every task.
You’re a dependable source of comfort;
You’re my cushion when I fall.
You help in times of trouble;
You support me whenever I call.
I love you more than I can express;
You have my total respect.
If I had my choice of mothers,
You’d be the one I’d select!
Ø Rhetorical
devices:
-
Antithesis: gentle- strong
-
Rhyme:
+ perfect rhyme: strong- belong, ask- task,
fall- call, respect- select.
-
Repetition: you’re…, you…, when I…, so…
Ø Message: This
poem expresses children’s deep gratitude to their mothers. Mothers always are important to everyone
because they can do everything to make their children feel happy. Mothers’
loves are infinite.
Item 2: Fable
The Ant and the
Grasshopper (An Aesop Fable retold by Rose Owens)
One summer day a grasshopper was singing and chirping and
hopping about. He was having a wonderful time. He saw an ant who was busy
gathering and storing gain for the winter.
“Stop and talk to me,” said the grasshopper. “We can sing
some songs and dance a while.”
“Oh no,” said the ant. “Winter is coming. I am storing up
food for the winter. I think you should do the same.”
“Oh, I can’t be bothered,” said the grasshopper. “Winter is
a long time off. There is a plenty of food.” So the grasshopper continued to
dance and sing and chip and the ant continue to work.
When winter came the grasshopper had no food and was
starving. He went to the ant’s house and asked, “Can I have some wheat or maybe
a few kernels of corn? Without it I will starve,” whined the grasshopper.
“You danced last summer,” said the ants in disgust. “You can
continue to dance.” And they gave him no food.
Ø
Rhetorical devices:
-
Metaphor: the ants→ hardworking and forehanded people,
the grasshopper→ work-shy and subjective people
-
Alliteration: sing some songs
-
Irony( verbal irony): “You danced last summer”, “You
can continue to dance” (the grasshopper only dance and sing without gathering
and storing food for winter, so when they come to the ant’s house to ask for
food, the ant speak in an ironical voice.)
Ø
Message: Time slipped by. Don’t waste time on insignificant works and should
arrange reasonable time between work and play. Don’t put off till tomorrow what
you can do today.
Item 3: Cartoon
Ø
Rhetorical Devices:
-
Symbol: Tiger (King of the beasts)→power.
-
Metaphor: scream( gào thét) → act immediately
-
Metonymy: leaves→ environment
Ø
Message: Our environment was being destroyed seriously . Most of wild
animals are lost their homes because of the destruction of human. This picture
is a protecting environmental appeal. From that, it showed a slogan that “acts
now, do not wait!”

item2 fable : I agree with you about the message and I give supplementary a idea is that If you work hard in the good times, you'll have enough for the bad times
Trả lờiXóaitem 1: The poem is meaningful. However, i think you should analyze the rhetorical devices in order to clarify its effects on the expression of the feelings of the author.
Trả lờiXóaIn item 3, i think that it doesnt mean that we must act now. i thinks that the message is only that people is doing damage to the enviroment and natural habitats
Trả lờiXóaI think in the item 1, there is a antithesis in the sentence You're patient when I'm foolish ( Patient - Foolish)
Trả lờiXóakhoa, I think that you don't understand clearly about this picture.
Trả lờiXóabecause this picture seem to be an appeal for help of nature in general and wild animals in particular.
