Entry 1
Item 1: Poem
Home (Aisha Patterson)
Home is the place your
heart resides
Home is the place that you decide
Home is the womb that holds the soul
Home is the place where one is whole
Home is the glow you hold in your eye
Home is the emotion that makes you cry
Home is safe and a place of peace
Home is where all strivings cease
Home is protective against the others
Home is full of sisters and brothers
Home is where you find your rest
Home is where you feel your best
Home is a memory that follows your being
Home is a dream for those agreeing
Home is the place where reserves fall
Home is the place you yearn to call
Home is where the family meets
Home is a place of restful retreats
Home is the place you know you’ll be heard
Home is the place where nothing blurs
Home is all these wonderful things
Home is the place you develop wings
Home is the place that you’ll find one day
Home is the place where your heart will stay
Home is the place that you decide
Home is the womb that holds the soul
Home is the place where one is whole
Home is the glow you hold in your eye
Home is the emotion that makes you cry
Home is safe and a place of peace
Home is where all strivings cease
Home is protective against the others
Home is full of sisters and brothers
Home is where you find your rest
Home is where you feel your best
Home is a memory that follows your being
Home is a dream for those agreeing
Home is the place where reserves fall
Home is the place you yearn to call
Home is where the family meets
Home is a place of restful retreats
Home is the place you know you’ll be heard
Home is the place where nothing blurs
Home is all these wonderful things

in the item 2, i don't think it is a metaphor because the word "ass" in dictionary is an informal way to talk about "stupid person" which is exactly the same as "idiot". however. Metaphor is a rhetorical device to compare 2 different things that have at least one feature in common.
Trả lờiXóaand, one more trivial comment that in item 3, you should post the cartoon as well, so that we don't have to go to the link just to see the cartoon and then go back to see your analysis. congratulation any way! ^^~
in the item 1, i want to add a rhetorical. it is repetition. the author use the structure: "home is place", "home is where" many times to emphasize the role of home
Trả lờiXóain item 1: i don't think it's an assonance(home, the place). And are sure that it's an antithesis (protective - against)? i don't think so. In addition, i agree with Thuy that there is a rhetorical. That's just my ideas. Cheer...^^
Trả lờiXóaIn item3: I don't think the rhetorical device here is metonymy. In my opinion, it's metaphor :). The camera of the tourist in the picture was depicted like a vacuum cleaner.
