Identifying bias
Item 1:
- Scapegoating.
- Analysis: We can see
that there are many causes leading to hurricane Isaac so it is a fault of the
whole society. However, this picture considers that hurricane Isaac is all
Obama’s fault. It means that Obama has to be responsible for these things.
Item 2: If we are
walking through a park late at night and encounter three senior citizens
wearing fur coats and walking with canes, we can feel insecure. However, we may
not feel as threatened as if we were met by three high school-aged boys wearing
leather jackets.
- Stereotype.
- Analysis: Stereotype is a generalization
about a person or group of persons. We have made a generalization in this case.
These generalizations can come from our experiences in the real life. When we
don’t have full of accurate information about three senior citizens and their
action; moreover, they are taking canes so we can feel insecure and threatened
because in our thought, we can have bad intention to us.

the young people has sustainable development in order to work for. Therefore,
