ENTRY
3: Identifying Bias
Item
1: Folk
“Đàn bà thắt đáy lưng ong
Vừa khéo chiều chồng, lại
khéo nuôi con.
Những người béo trục béo tròn
Ăn vụng như chớp, đánh
con cả ngày.”
Ø Type
of Bias: Stereotype and Prejudice.
Ø Analysis:
According to the opinion of the ancients, the women, who are the wasp waists,
are very capable and hardworking. Therefore, they consider that the wasp waists
are model wives. On the contrary, they
have a prejudice against the fat women because they believe that the women who
are tubby are lazy and violent. Actually,
not all fat women are bad or not all the slim women are fine.
Item
2: Picture
Ø Type
of Bias: Discrimination.
Ø Analysis:
It is clear that the women are discriminated. They cannot promote because they
are believed that are not as able as the men. That is blatant sexism in the
selection of staff.
Item 3: Story
of Bias: Prejudice.
Ø Analysis:
When Paul Louis Courier saw on the wall hanging many weapons such as sword,
spear, guns, he thought that the coal-fired employees were dishonest and felt very frightened because
he considered that the people who had or used weapons were bad. In fact, they were kind and received him thoughtfully.

in item 2: you have a small mistake in grammar: after "that" must be "a clause" but not "verb".
Trả lờiXóathanks your comment, but "that" is not relative pronoun.^^
Trả lờiXóain item 3, I think that it isn't prejudice, it should be assumption. you said that Paul Louis Courier sees some weapons hanging on the wall and he thinks that they are dishonested. it is only his assumption because it isn't popular opinion of the majority. they are in forest so they can use these weapons to hunt or protect themselve from danger.
Trả lờiXóaI also think that item 3 talks about ASSUMPTION rather than PREJUDICE, because when Paul Louis Courier saw on the wall hanging many weapons, he jumped to conclusion that the people who had or used weapons were bad
